Global Switch to build new data centre in Paris

October 9, 2009

Global Switch is pleased to announce that it has signed a Commitment Agreement with IBM for the pre-letting of technical space within its new data centre development at Clichy in Paris.

This significant commitment over a number of floors follows the successful awards of the Building Permit and Environmental Permit (ICPE) over the last month.

The new data centre (Paris 2) will be built on an adjacent site to the existing Global Switch data centre in Paris to create the city's leading data centre campus with in excess of 50,000 sq m of space. Paris 2 will have an area of 17,000 sq m over six floors and will be designed with a base power density of 1.5kW/m2 (with the flexibility to be adapted for high density environments as required). The build is planned to take 19 months and the data centre is expected to become fully operational during 2011.

John Corcoran, Global Switch's Executive Chairman commented: "With the new Paris 2 data centre Global Switch now owns and operates nine Carrier Neutral centres across Europe and Asia-Pacific. We are continuing to experience strong customer demand in all our facilities and I am pleased and very proud to announce that IBM, the world's largest Information Technology Company, has extended its commitment with Global Switch in Paris. This will further strengthen our strategic relationship."

IBM is now Global Switch's largest customer by revenue and is a major occupier of Global Switch's facilities in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Paris and Sydney.

We are working closely with a number of other existing and prospective customers and expect to be in a position to announce further news of new facilities and contracts in Europe and Asia Pacific in the near future."

Global Switch is a Reuben Brothers company.
