Matthew joined Global Switch in 2014 as Regional Engineering Director for Europe and was promoted to Regional Projects Director for Europe in 2016.


Matthew has nearly 20 years’ senior engineering experience gained whilst working for leading consultancy practices such as Cundall, an international multi-disciplinary consultancy, where he was a Director in the Critical Systems Group. Matthew has participated in the design of many projects including large-scale data centres with extensive electrical multi mega-watt infrastructures, deploying various forms of UPS including static, Diesel Rotary UPS and Hybrid Rotary UPS and has been heavily involved in the deployment of air-side cooling in data centres.

Matthew holds a Master’s degree in Intelligent Buildings from Reading University and a Bachelor’s degree in Building Services Engineering Design & Management. He is also a Chartered Member of CIBSE.

Responsibilities at Global Switch

Matthew manages the Group Projects team in Europe, overseeing all projects across Global Switch’s European portfolio, including new developments, plant replacement, suite fit out and IT fit out. As Project Director, Matthew also sits on the Regional Executive Committee, which is assembled to review the business strategy, monitoring performance and overseeing the annual business plans.

In addition he focuses on technical engineering to support the delivery of projects to ensure that these projects are successfully delivered through to operation. Matthew also monitors the performance of the data centres to implement and continuously improve the efficiency of Global Switch’s European data centres.
