FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

RevealDoes Global Switch use renewable energy to power its data centres?

Yes. In 2025, 100% of the electricity at our European and Singapore data centres was renewables-backed, and 88.3% across our global portfolio. We secure supply through power purchase agreements and certificates, and we are working towards 100% renewable electricity across all facilities by 2030. 2025 ESG Report

RevealWhat are Global Switch's science-based emissions targets?

Our targets were approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2025. We have committed to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2023 baseline. We are also working with our suppliers so that 74% of capital goods suppliers, by emissions, set their own science-based targets by 2029. We do not currently use carbon offsets to meet these targets. We have also secured additional renewable electricity agreements, including a long-term arrangement supported by Drax Energy Solutions utilising 55GWh of baseload solar power annually. 2025 ESG Report

RevealHow energy efficient are Global Switch data centres?

Improving energy efficiency remains a key focus across our portfolio. In 2025, Global Switch improved its Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) by 8%, helping reduce energy consumption while maintaining the resilient infrastructure our customers rely on. Every Global Switch data centre is certified under the EU Code of Conduct for Energy Efficiency in Data Centres. New data centres are designed for a PUE below 1.2 in Europe and below 1.4 in Asia-Pacific. 2025 ESG Report

RevealWhat is Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE)?

Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) is a measure of data centre energy efficiency. It compares the total energy used by a facility with the energy consumed by its IT equipment. A lower PUE indicates greater efficiency, and Global Switch is committed to continuously improving PUE to optimise performance and reduce environmental impact.

RevealWhat sustainability certifications and ratings does Global Switch hold?

In 2025 we received an EcoVadis Gold medal, placing us in the top 5% of businesses assessed worldwide. Our data centres hold third-party certifications including ISO 14001 (environmental), ISO 50001 (energy), ISO 45001 (health and safety), ISO 27001 (information security) and ISO 9001 (quality). Our emissions data also receives independent limited assurance. 2025 ESG Report
