Eric has over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and data centre sectors, driving sales, managing large teams, growing business in a cross-cultural environment, building strategic partnerships and cultivating leads with regional and vertical channel partners.

Career

Before joining Global Switch, Eric, who was based in Hong Kong, was Executive Vice President for Pacific Light Data Communication, prior to which he was Senior Vice President, Wholesale Business for China Unicom Global where he managed a team of over 90 people, growing revenue in 20+ countries over the course of two years. He was also General Manager for ChinaCache Hong Kong overseeing operational activities and business development in the Asia-Pacific region.

He spent the early part of his career based in Beijing where he was the China Business Development Director for a leading international data centre provider. He was the first business employee of their China team and was responsible for promoting the brand, identifying new business opportunities with the major Chinese cloud and telecommunication companies amongst others, and developing key governmental and corporate relationships. He also worked for Pacnet which was acquired by Telstra and China Netcom which merged with China Unicom.

Eric holds an MBA from Tsinghua University and a BA in International Studies from the China Foreign Affair University. He is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English.

Responsibilities at Global Switch

In his role as Managing Director, Hong Kong, Eric is responsible for managing Global Switch Hong Kong including maintaining a best in class operational environment, overseeing business development and driving new initiatives. Global Switch Hong Kong is the largest data centre in Global Switch’s portfolio by gross floor area (70,228 sq m) and by utility power capacity (100MVA), as well as the single largest carrier and cloud neutral data centre in Hong Kong with an independently calculated annualised PUE of 1.3.
